Becoming a tradition, SECOSAFT hosted by the "Nicolae Bălcescu" Land Forces Academy in May of each year, reached its XVIIth Edition. This year the Student Communication Session - with international participation - SECOSAFT 2012 was officially opened on the morning of May 10 in the Aula.
After hearing the student anthem GAUDEAMUS, the rector of the academy, the colonel prof.univ.dr.ing. Ghita Barsan addressed a warm welcome, a great success to all participants and a more pleasant stay in Sibiu. At the end of the intervention, the rector of the academy presented a special guest at the conference (Miss Laura POPA, Ambassador ERASMUS from Romania to the European Union and the person who was registered as number 2,000,000 within the European Community Action Scheme for Mobility of University Students -ERASMUS).
Miss Laura POPA presented the ERASMUS program and invited the students to document and become part of this important European initiative.
After the introductory moment, the 254 participants from 20 university and research centers from Romania, Bulgaria and Portugal, started presenting the 211 papers elaborated for this edition, within 10 sections and subsections on which the manifestation was structured.
