AFT at the Joint Meeting on Gender Perspectives in Security and Defence
From 09 to 13 December 2024, Assoc. Prof. Ștefania Bumbuc, PhD, Assoc. Prof. Isabela Dragomir, PhD, cadet sergeant major Denisa Lichtenstein and cadet staff sergeant Andrei Butnaru from “Nicolae Bălcescu” Land Forces Academy of Sibiu participated in the Joint Meeting on Gender Perspectives in Security and Defence, organized by the Air Force Academy and the Hellenic Military Academy of Medical Assistance in Greece, under the aegis of the European Security and Defence College.
For five days, our colleagues had the opportunity to participate in theoretical modules and practical activities aimed at promoting the understanding and application of gender perspective in the European Security and Defence System.
The active participation of our institution in such international activities started in 2020, with the inclusion of “Nicolae Bălcescu” Land Forces Academy of Sibiu as a partner in the Military Gender Studies cooperation project, together with military higher education institutions from Portugal, Italy and Bulgaria.
Our academy also has permanent members in LoD-10 Gender Mainstreaming, an international working group of the Implementation Group of the European Initiative for the Exchange of Military Young Officers (EMILYO program), which contributes significantly to the implementation of gender perspective at the level of military higher education institutions in Europe.
