"I swear to defend my country, even at the cost of my life!"
As of today, October 24, 2024, by taking the military oath, the first-year students of "Nicolae Balcescu" Land Forces Academy of Sibiu have officially joined the great family of those who have committed to defend their country and its values with devotion and spirit of sacrifice.
This defining event in the career of any military was attended by the Chief of the Land Forces Staff, Lt. Gen. Ciprian Marin, the head of the Finance General Directorate, Lt. Gen. Florin Jianu, the Chief of Staff of the Southeast Multinational Corps, BG. Constantin Nicolaescu, representatives of county and local public authorities, commanders of the structures of the National System of Defense, Public Order and National Security, parents, relatives and friends of the newest members of our community.
In his speech, the Chief of the Land Forces Staff, Lt. Gen. Ciprian Marin told the students: "They say that if you want to get somewhere fast, you go alone, but if you want to go far, you go accompanied, as a team! We are part of a bigger whole, part of a family. Today's commitment is not only between the military and the Romanian people, but also between the comrades who stand by us in the most difficult moments. In a world that seems increasingly alienated, we must stand by each other, creating a deep bond of solidarity and trust. Promote the virtues of military honor and never forget that discipline, competence and, above all, character, are the most important elements that must define us."
The Commandant of "Nicolae Balcescu" Land Forces Academy of Sibiu, BG. Ghi?a Bârsan, urged the students to responsibility, morality and assumption of responsibility: "Academic and specialized military training are the pillars that will underpin your development as good soldiers. Make the effort to train yourselves to become specialists in your fields. Comradeship, responsibility, teamwork, perseverance and respect are the values that must guide your future."
Speaking on behalf of the first year students, Cadet Andreea Stanciu said: "The oath, spoken with a strong voice, is more than just a formal act, it is a sincere declaration, made with the emotion of publicly assuming a personal commitment that unites those of us who are standing in front of you with our country. From now on, we are no longer just citizens, but defenders of our nation, ready to dedicate our lives for the common good."
