Today, June 11, the 292 graduates of the "Avram Iancu-200" class of the "Nicolae Bălcescu" Land Forces Academy in Sibiu, together with their colleagues from the "Lucian Blaga" University, experienced the excitement of the GAUDEAMUS graduation ceremony, an event that has become a tradition for the academic community of Sibiu.
Parents, family, friends, military personnel and teaching staff, and officials of local public authorities, national defense, public order, and national security structures gathered with the students in Sibiu's Big Square on this momentous day in their life.
During his speech, BG Prof. Eng. Ghiță Bârsan, PhD, the rector of the "Nicolae Bălcescu" Land Forces Academy in Sibiu, told the students: "We are proud of you and all you have achieved. Enter this new phase of your life with assurance, optimism, and an open mind to all the possibilities that lie ahead. You join an illustrious tradition today, and it is your duty to uphold and enhance its heritage. I encourage you to always uphold our ideals: Country, Honor, Duty. No matter what, they will guide and assist you in making the best choices."
The program of the event did not lack moments of entertainment prepared and performed by students, and the ceremony of handing over and receiving the Key of the University Centre, seen as a transfer of knowledge, performance and discipline between graduates and second year students.
"We are the generation that can bring meaningful changes and together we can build a better world. We don't know what the future holds, but we know it's ours! Good luck on this beautiful path we have all chosen and may we see each other in years to come, just as enthusiastic and smiling!" said cadet Robert Stanciu, on behalf of the Land Forces Academy's 2024 graduating class.
The event's unique symbolism came from the students of the 2024 class singing for the last time the anthem Gaudeamus Igitur ("Let us rejoice, therefore") in Sibiu’s Big Square.
