FIELD TRAINING EXERCISE “CADET” 2024
The integrated, inter-branch, tactical-level Field Training Exercise (FTX) “CADET 2024” came to an end today at Perii Daii Training Ground. The drill was conducted between April 23 and 26, 2024, and involved students from “Nicolae Balcescu” Land Forces Academy in Sibiu as well as foreign cadets who are taking part in the International Semester.
The primary goal of “CADET 2024” exercise was the practical application of theoretical knowledge, providing the students of the class of 2024 with favorable conditions for planning, leading, and executing military operations that were tailored to the demands of the current operational environment, with the aim of developing their professional competencies as military leaders.
Under the guidance of instructors and academic staff, the cadets conducted training exercises both by day and night, adhering to a tactical scenario that mirrored the realities of the modern battlefield and using combat equipment specific to the Romanian Land Forces (Piranha V carriers, VAMTACs, tanks, howitzers, mortars, engineering equipment, CBRN defense, and logistic support). The cadets also utilized a command-and-control system that made use of modern communication means, with drones playing a significant role in both information gathering and producing lethal effects, and supported by ground attack aviation (IAR 99 Soim and IAR 330 Puma SOCAT helicopters).
Specialized units from the Romanian Intelligence Service and the Sibiu County Police Inspectorate were also involved in “CADET 2024” exercise.
