"Nicolae Balcescu" Land Forces Academy in Sibiu, the successor of the educational and institutional traditions of the first military school for officers in Romania, celebrated 176 years of existence today.
The activities started with the military ceremony dedicated to the anniversary in the academy’s auditorium and continued with the visit of the academy’s infrastructure during the Open Doors Day.
The events were attended by the commander of the Headquarters Multinational Corps Southeast, Major General Dragos Dumitru Iacob, the rector of the "Lucian Blaga" University of Sibiu, Prof. Sorin Radu, PhD, and by retired and reserve military officers who, over time, have crossed paths with the academy, as commanders of the institution or heads of its structures.
Furthermore, besides the academic staff, military instructors and students of our institution, the participants of the LFA International Week, who were carrying out training and teaching mobility within the Erasmus+ programme from 12 to 16 June, were also present at the ceremony.
One of the special moments of the anniversary events was the awarding of the "Nicolae Balcescu" Prize and the badges of honour that the Chief of the General Staff of the Land Forces and the Chief of the Defence Staff offered to our colleagues.
Happy anniversary to the members of the Sibiu military academic community!
