The 2019 Invictus Veterans’ Relay Race is on the way to the free land of Carei. On its route through Sibiu and Alba Iulia, the baton was passed from one Romanian to another. One of the notable competitors who participated in this race was Second Lieutenant Alexandru Razasanu. Another outstanding Romanian competitor, Cadet Sergeant Major Livia Barsan, from the Land Forces Academy, ran across Dealul Daii. The first-year students welcomed her on the Stefan cel Mare Avenue.
They departed to Alba Iulia after the comrades sang the national anthem. What followed was a journey through the history of Marginimea Sibiului, through villages full of graves and crosses for heroes: Poplaca, Orlat, Saliste, Miercurea Sibiului. Students and teachers, mayors and others, received them at monuments with flags, apples, and a warm welcome.
From Miercurea Sibiului, the students of “Mihai Viteazul” National Military High School of Alba Iulia joined the relay race with new forces. They stopped at Sebes and Lancram, near Blaga’s statue, and arrived in the capital of the Great Romania, at the monuments of Avram Iancu, Mihai Viteazu, Horia, Closca and Crisan. The baton was handed in the courtyard of the college and the event was followed by a short speech: “Dear colleagues, we, the students of the Land ForcesAcademy, pass on the baton to you, to be taken to the free land of Carei.”
It was a day when the students of the LFA, wearing the Invictus T-shirts and full of enthusiasm, ran alongside their commanders, instructors, families, athletes of the Sibiu Community Sports Club, and representatives of the Sibiu County Police Inspectorate (Daniel Scrob, Alexandra Iliuta, Loredana Toloarga). It was an inspiring day when we set an example for the younger generation.
Go Invictus!
