Saturday, June 29, 2019, marked the celebration of 200 years since the birth of the spiritual patron of the Land Forces Academy. On December 13, 1952, the name of the prestigious scholar, historian and revolutionary Nicolae Balcescu was given to the military educational institution, whose successor of military traditions is the Academy of Land Forces.
On this occasion, on Friday, June 28, in the presence of the entire staff of the Academy, LTC Radu Dinu, head of the General Staff Section, evoked the personality and the work of the famous leader of the 1848 Revolution.
Furthermore, in the context of the “Nicolae Balcescu” bicentenary, the Land Forces Academy, in collaboration with “Nicolae Balcescu” Memorial Museum and Nicolae Balcescu Village Hall, organizes today, June 28, a series of educational cultural activities in order to promote national values and traditions, the feeling of esprit de corps and of belonging to the common patronymic symbol. At the same time, until July 15, all those interested can visit the “Nicolae Balcescu. Man and the Age” photo-documentary exhibition, hosted by Astra Sibiu County Library, building B.
