From 25 to 27 June, the “Nicolae Balcescu” Land Forces Academy in Sibiu hosted the Military Pentathlon Championship, the final of the Ministry of National Defence, a competition between the military education institutions and the training units. The athletes competed in swimming competitions, throwing hand grenades ata long distance and with accuracy, shooting, obstacle course racing and running (8 km men, 4 km women).
Following the event, in the men individual competitions for military education institutions, all the three places of the podium were occupied by the students of the Land Forces Academy: Cadet First Class Catalin Lodroman (1st place), Cadet Sergeant Marius Miron (2nd place) and Cadet Staff Sergeant Alexandru Alungulesa (3rd place).
In the women individual competitions, the winner of the 1st place was the representative of our institution, Cadet Sergeant Loredana Mocanu, followed by the student Alexandra Balcariu, from the “Basarab I” Land Forces Military School of Warrant Officers and Non-commissioned Officers and by the representative of the “Mircea cel Batran” Naval Academy, Cadet Sergeant Ioana Bruma.
In the Overall Team Ranking, the “Nicolae Balcescu” Land Forces Academy took the first place, followed by the “Basarab I” Land Forces Military School of Warrant Officers and Non-commissioned Officers ranked second, and the third place was obtained by the “Traian Vuia” Air Forces Military School of Warrant Officers and Non-commissioned Officers. In the Overall Ranking for training units, the 1st place was obtained by the Land Forces General Staff, 2nd ranked the Naval Forces General Staff, and 3rd place the Air Force General Staff.
