National Flag Day, celebrated in the Big Square
The celebration of the National Flag, the most valuable symbol of national faith, took place on Wednesday, June 26, in the Big Square of Sibiu, with a military ceremony. During the event, the local officials delivered speeches, blessings were bestowed, the Romanian Flag was hoisted, and the event ended with the guard of honor parade.
The flag that was flown on the mast in the central area of the city had been kept in the Metropolitan Cathedral of Sibiu in the evening preceding the event, where it was sanctified by HH Laurentiu Streza, Archbishop of Sibiu and Metropolitan of Transylvania.
