About 1,200 preschoolers and pupils from several schools in the Sibiu County had interesting and useful experiences during the visit paid today, April 17th, to the "Nicolae Balcescu” Land Forces Academy, within the program “Army – A Different Type of School.”
Guided by the cadets from the academy, the young visitors had the opportunity to get acquainted with both the instruction and the teaching facilities. They visited the workshops exhibiting military weapons and military technique and those teaching how to survive in case of isolation. They could throw drill grenades and fire with AIRSOFT armament.
They also witnessed front-to-arm demonstrative drill exercises and enjoyed the musical moments interpreted by the military brass band.
The participants appreciated the workshops where they learned how to cross obstacles by funicular and to rappel, as well as those in which the types of fire and shelters were presented.
After the hours spent with us, the children and their attendants left the academy impressed by their experience. Their delight became evident in the teacher’s words written in the Visitor’s Book at the end of the visit, “The experience with the Land Forces Academy was an unforgettable one; the students understood the true value of the words Country, Honor, Duty. We were impressed with the organization and everything that we learned.”
