Memorandum of Understanding between the Land Forces Academy and Virginia Military Institute, Lexington
In October, a delegation of the "Nicolae Balcescu" Land Forces Academy composed of Mrs. Marioara Pateşan, Dean of the Faculty of Military Sciences and LTC Adrian Teodorescu, senior instructor at the Military Training Center, paid a visit to the Virginia Military Institute in Lexington, Virginia, USA, in order to sign a Memorandum of Understanding on Academic Cooperation between our institutions.
The meeting took place following the premises created within the International Military Academic Forum held in Budapest in June last year, when the representatives of our institution had a first contact with the American delegation present at the event and proposed to initiate the cooperation between the two institutions.
The discussions during the visit of the Romanian delegation to the Virginia Military Institute aimed at presenting the educational offers of the two institutions, setting out the details regarding the exchange of students and teachers starting with 2018-2019 academic year; the periods of mobility; the documents to be drawn up by both parties, and the costs involved. In addition, it has been agreed to sign an Interinstitutional Agreement within the Erasmus+ Program between the two institutions, given the possibility of future funding of these types of mobility by the European Commission.
