National Flag Day Celebrated on the Big Square
The celebration of the National Flag, the most valuable symbol of the national faith, took place today, June 26, on the Sibiu Big Square with a special military ceremony. During the event, local officials delivered speeches, the blessing was uttered and the Romanian Flag was flown.
The event, organized by the military structures of the Sibiu garrison, in collaboration with the local public administration, the Metropolitan Church of Transylvania and the "Andrei Şaguna" Theology School in Sibiu, ended with the honor guard’s parade.
On the eve of the event, the flag had been introduced in the Metropolitan Cathedral of Sibiu, where it was sanctified by His Eminence Archbishop of Sibiu and Metropolitan of Transylvania Laurentiu Streza.
