The Day of the Land Forces and the Holy Martyr Gheorghe, the victory bearer (patron saint of the Land Forces), was also marked in Sibiu this year through a series of events organized by the Sibiu military structures, in collaboration with the local public authorities and the Metropolitan Church of Transylvania.
The activities started at 8.00 o’clock a.m. with the ceremony organized on the parade ground of the academy, and there was a ceremony at the "Monument of the all-time soldier", in front of the Military Club, dedicated to the Land Forces Day anniversary, which started with the officials' speeches, followed by the religious service and the ceremony of depositing flower wreaths and garlands. In the end, the Honor Guard paraded for all the participants present at the event.
The events continued on the premises of the "Nicolae Bălcescu" Land Forces Academy with the "Open Doors Day", where over 500 students and pupils who crossed the threshold participated in a special program, which included the stands displaying the armament and military combat techniques, survival workshops and the visit to the logistics base of the academy. The novelty of this year was the "Blind date with a book" stand, organized by the "Maj Gen Nicolae Uscoi" Cadets’ Corps, where over 100 books were offered to the participants, with the aim of promoting reading among young people.
The symposium held in the auditorium of the institution was the manifestation that ended the events dedicated to the Land Forces Day.
Happy anniversary, a lot of health and achievements to all our colleagues in the Romanian Land Forces!
